LIVE BAND FROM NEW ORLEANS!!! Some of you may remember the GREAT
band from New Orleans that UAH hosted a year or so ago (The Loose
Marbles.) Our March live band is the core group of Loose Marbles
players, in an ultimately cool ensemble called "TUBA SKINNY" !
Whether you want to dance, or just listen to some fanTAStic music,

Thanks to everyone who came to swing out to the Dean Martinis with us! We had great turn out and a great time! There were about 20 people at the beginner lesson alone!

Thanks to Tabitha and Gabriel for teaching as always and thank you to Rob and Kristen for the intermission DJ'ing. It was great to see all the new faces at the dance as well as all of the great lindy hoppers.

BluesSHOUT! has always been about bringing you the best of the best. This year, we're headed to Texas where everything's just a little bit bigger (and dare we say, "better"?). It's a Texas Throwdown!

We'll be showcasing the biggest and best of the Lone Star State. We're ready to throw down with some amazing music, some outstanding classes, and more fun than you can poke with a cattle prod. All that's missing from this Texas-sized shindig is YOU!

FLEUR DE LINDY is no ordinary Lindy Exchange. How could it be? New Orleans is no ordinary city! You are invited to experience the beauty and culture of the birthplace of Jazz.

Swing! ran on Broadway from December 9, 1999 to January 14, 2001. Through a string of fortuitous coincidences, I learned on the Wednesday before its closing that its run was about to end and snapped up two of the musical's remaining tickets.

Swing! included West Coast, Country-Western, Latin and traditional Swing dancing as well as a band and four jazz/pop singers. While it didn't work all that well as a cohesive unit, taken as separate segments, it was a lot of fun.

Balboa, the ever feared and respected swing dance. Even among swing dances, balboa is a separate peak to be conquered. However, with the right help, you can go from 0 to 60 in no time flat. Thats what this workshop is all about, giving those with no experience a chance to get cruisin and those with some balboa experience a chance to turn it into a solid part of their swing repertoire.

Class 1 – The Good Stuff: Getting comfortable with the feel and basic steps of the balboa

Class 2 – The Better Stuff: Adding some pure balboa moves to your basic

Class 3 – The Great Stuff: Moves to make you look great on the dance floor

Class 4 – The Best Stuff: Teaching a classic “old timer” balboa move for some major eye candy on the floor that combines a little bit of everything learned so far and more.

The Birmingham Swing Dancers invite you to a swing dance on Friday, February 26 at the Fultondale Friendship Hall, 1024 Old Walker Chapel Road, Fultondale from 8:00 – 11:00 pm. Music by Patton James & the Synchromatics, a modern jump blues, rocking swing band from Nashville, Tennessee. From the melancholy sounds reminiscent of a YOUNG SINATRA to the high energy ROCKIN' JUMP BLUES of the 1940's, this band has it all. Admission is $11 for BSD members, $13 for non-members. Casual attire. Light snacks, soft drinks, water and ice are furnished. No alcohol or smoking allowed.
